I would think that you would need to do more than just remove
advertising in order to charge for a subscription.  For $12, I
can ignore a lot of advertising!  But, if you were to include
valuable content that was only available in the paid version, I
*might* consider paying for a subscription.

If your advertising is *on-topic*, I think most readers will see
them as added value to your ezine, not as a nuisance.
