Dave,
You have it right, we do that from time to time. Let's say you have an add
and the contact is an email, then you would list the email as
del@lenweaver.com?thenewsletter
however this does not work with all mail programs like the old eudora (not
sure about the new one. If you own the domain you could list the email as
thenewsletter@foodweb.com

Using autoresponders is another way to track. The same applies to the url
http://www.foodweb.com?thenewsletter Your stats program will then pick it
up. Hope this helps.
