Sad situation! 

Send an e-mail to the person stating they're blatently
infringing on your copyright. Don't be afraid to threaten
them with immediate legal action. 

I've had to do this several times, and as soon as I make
my intentions 100% clear, the problem-maker suddenly
rectifies the situation.

Copyright begins as soon as the writer completes his/
her work. So technically there's no need to file any
formal paperwork. (I did EXTENSIVE research on this
for my "Make Your Knowledge Sell" e-book.)

However, for all of you article writers, it is of legal benefit
to formally copyright all of your work. This way you can
be financially compensated for any copyright infringement.

In the US, you'd file copyright Form SE for articles.
(Form SE is for serial work like newsletters, and the such.)
So you can send a bunch of articles at once, instead of 
paying to individually copyright each one. 

I now make it a habit to copyright a new set of articles/
newsletters every month. This way I'm 'formally' protected,
just in case I run up against somebody who's feeling a little
argumentive. 

Hey... they can't argue with a legal document!
