I have sent multiple messages to people with personalised greetings etc.
using MS - Word mail merge feature.

It is easy.  Only thing is that it will put multiple outgoing mails in your
outbox/ sent folder - but you can keep one copy and delete the rest.

You get an option there to either send the message as an attachment (word
document attachment) or as body of the message.

You have to compose the mail in Word itself.

The feature is available from Word 97 onwards.
