A passing question: do you by any chance use Windows (particularly 98, 
NT, or 2000)?  Speaking of companies that use spyware, Microsoft is far 
from innocent.  For one thing, if you're using Windows 98+, there's a 
special tracking system that lets Microsoft know everywhere you've 
been on the web, based, I believe (correct me if I'm wrong on 
this), your computer's Windows id/registration number.  There is 
also a second, similar tracker on your Pentium/Celeron chip: it 
makes your web history available to Microsoft and Intel based on 
the id code of your chip.  If you can track down the right utility 
(it's included with Win 98, but it's usually fairly well hidden), 
there is a way to disable this one, but the Windows one is 
insidiously permanent.

Solution?  Linux =p

Seriously, though, companies do this probably more than we can track.  
Of course, for the most part, unless the FBI decides you're some kind 
of national threat or some wacked, Hollywood story like that, they 
have so many billions of people they can receive data on, I wouldn't 
be *too* paranoid about them specifically tracking *you*.  They just 
have the ability to if they wanted to.
