AOL..despite all the oddities of their unique approach to technology, has a
few interesting aspects that would help most ezine publishers to remember(or
not at thier own discretion).

1. AOL owns Netscape, and as of 6.0, will start offering Netscape as the
'unofficial' default browser for new AOL users. Now, that may not seem like
a big deal, yet with nearly 75% of all NEW internet users, and almost 40% of
all Internet users, ignoring AOL access folks seems like an unwise decision.

2. AOL is now Time Warner/AOL or some variation on that. This means that the
next generation of NetEntertainment, will MOST likely be AOL based. Zines
will be an important part of that, especially for content reviewers, etc.

3. There's a good guy, who's quite knowledgable on AOL, that you may find
interesting to read up on. His name is Dan Janal, and his site is
http://www.janal.com(sorry..I don't do the AOL shuffle either, even though
some zines that I receive include an AOL 'footnote' section, where all the
links are accessible for AOL users).

4. It's entirely predictable that Netscape will recover at least 50% of the
Net traffic, courtesy of the AOL link, and Microsoft IE will erode. Recall
that Microsoft and AOL are not exactly kissing cousins, as Mssrs. Case(AOL)
and Gates(Microsoft) have never officially buried to axe.
