Don't be confused - it's a piece of cake.  You have to use a bit of 
Javascript, but that's nothing at all difficult as it's merely a 
question of copy and paste.

There's a really useful pop-up code generator at the Javascript 
Source (on this page: 
http://javascript.internet.com/generators/popup-window.html).  All 
you do is choose some options, like the size of the window in 
pixels, and whether or not you want it to have a toolbar or be 
resizable, and so on, then you press the button and the code is 
generated for you.  

For a subscription pop-up window I should think you want to 
choose "automatically", though there is also the option to choose 
the window to open when the viewer clicks a button or a link.

They tell you exactly where to put the code in your page.  It comes 
in 2 parts.  The first part you have to put somewhere between the 
<head> and </head> tags near the beginning of your page.  The 
second part, if you choose the automatic opening of your window 
rather than a button or link, you have to put actually inside the 
<body> tag.  Like this: <body you-put-it-here>.  See what I mean?

If you think this is complicated, think again.  Try it for yourself and 
you'll see.  I was a beginner myself not so long ago so I know 
what I'm talking about!

only happens once, let me know and I'll dig it out.
