EPUB Archives [Thread Prev][Thread Next][Thread][epub] Re: Listbot to drop their free service?
Hi all. Listbot's dropping their free service is perhaps just another indication of the unsustainability of the "for-free" model of web based services. Ezines are going to be costly affairs. Added to the time and energy spent in planning and creating one, publishers now have to bear an extra expense in distributing their newsletters. In conjunction with the slump in online advertising sales, this means the only *rational* way to run an ezine is to generate revenues in some other ways from it. This could mean charging a fee for subscription, or using it to directly sell products or services to subscribers, or for the lucky few, find sponsors/advertisers to bear the costs involved. I'm sure we'll all look for and come up with more innovative ways to turn an ezine into a money-spinner.
