Funnily enough, I was just preparing something on encoding email
addresses for the next issue of my ezine ....

can't read them.

As it's HTML, encoded addresses will display and behave exactly
the same on a Web page as those written in regular Roman letters.

The service is great, but the code is emailed to the address
encoded, so it's not much use to you if you want to protect your
ezine subscription address, or those of autoresponders, etc.

Here's an easy alternative method that also offers a quick way to
update addresses already on your site.

Every word has vowels, so instead of encoding all the letters,
simply translate the vowels, the "@" and the "com" in your email
address, plus the "mailto:" portion of the link. I've encoded
these for you, so you can refer to them whenever needed.

If you use addresses at your own domain, leaving the first
portion of the address un-encoded will enable you to use a text
or HTML editor to do site-wide "search and replace" operations on
"@mydomain.com" and "mailto:" Far quicker and less trouble than
changing several addresses individually.

I'm not guaranteeing this will work in every case. I'm sure there
must be some sophisticated spam bots out there that can translate
the HTML code. But what percentage of spammers are likely to have
that kind of gear?
