[epub] Re:posting 2 for 1 issue, and new spam laws

The reason we do this is two-fold:

1. Some folks want the ezine via email; however, the new spam filters often
stop the distribution so...
2. I personally have begn publishing the Empowered Parenting Ezine as a
blog, then I send out a second email w/ that link and nothing else.

I didn't get any complaints or unsubscribes. Lately, I've weaned them away
from the email ezine and just send out the second notice w/ the blog link
because...

The new spam laws are fierce and if someone decides, double opt in or not,
that they were spammed and report it, then you and I, the hard working
ecommerce folks, are the ones who will get sued, primarily because they can
find us! Fines can be as high as $1 million and a year in prison. There's
not an ezine on earth worth that much risk to me. Therefore...

In 2004 I will begin to charge for my ezine. Just a paltry $11.99, but that
will be my proof that I'm not spamming a soul. And if one of my EP parents
says s/he can't afford $1 a month for what I provide, than I also want to
know how s/he can afford the internet at all?

Question: Because I truly cannot remember, is epub only for
ezine/newsletter publishers, or can we brainstorm about promoting ebooks
and printed products online?
